Community Collaborators

The Health Center at Auraria collaborates with community partners on a semesterly basis. Our partners range from a variety of disciplines and the list is always growing as programming needs shift. Patients may also find these resources helpful if they are looking for additional assistance beyond what the Health Center at Auraria can offer. Below you can find partners we regularly work with; internships and job opportunities can be found with these organizations when the need or interest arises. If you have any additional questions or interest, feel free to reach out to us!

Sexual Health 

BC4U
BC4U provide free educational resources, birth control solutions, and other sexual health services to people in Colorado who are 24 years old and younger.

Bee the Vibe
Bee the Vibe is a program of Mile High Behavioral Healthcare promoting and offering safer solutions to sexual health, wellness, harm reduction, and case management. Bee the Vibe offers Colorado residents FREE educational sessions, and fun events, as well as safe and sober spaces, so you can truly be yourself and BEE the vibe. They also offer FREE case management, drug-checking options, sexual health testing options and peer-led prevention groups to help you live a better lifestyle and just keep vibing.

Children’s Hospital Immunodeficiency Program (CHIP)
Be You Colorado supports the sexual health goals of young people ages 13-24 with free and confidential access to sexual health resources. They offer youth and young adults resources to get more informed about their sexual health. Their experts help connect you to organizations and healthcare providers in your community who provide free, non-judgmental support for issues like STI testing and treatment and pregnancy prevention.

Colorado Department of Public Health
A resource to help people navigate the prevention, care, and treatment of sexually transmitted infections (STI) and HIV. This includes city wide partner connections, PrEP access, harm reduction practices, and overall STI education. They also have connections for people who need financial support to cover costs of HIV and PrEP medication through state and public health resources.

Hey Denver
HeyDenver is a non-profit community-based organization that provides Queer-focused free and confidential sexual health services, outreach, and sexually transmitted infection (STI) testing. They are an extension of Colorado Health Network, a statewide organization that serves over 5,000 individuals living with HIV.  

Mental Health 

Dork Dancing
Dork Dancing is a project of the Colorado Non-profit Development Center. They are here to support others in their mental health through sharing a vision of authenticity, service, play, inclusion, community, and empathy.

Envision You
Envision You seeks to close gaps in behavioral health outcomes for LGBTQ+ individuals through co-created community programming, advocacy engagement, public awareness campaigns, and evidence-based training.

Nutrition Security 

Denver Food Rescue
Denver Food Rescue increases health equity among Denver neighborhoods by rescuing high-quality, fresh produce and perishable foods that would otherwise be thrown away by grocery stores, farmers’ markets, and produce distributors. With the help of amazing volunteers, the food they rescue is delivered (often biked!) to Denver neighborhoods for direct distribution at No Cost Grocery Programs (NCGPs). This participation decreases the stigma of traditional food pantries, empowering each neighborhood to create a program that is appropriate for their culture & community.

Denver Urban Gardens
Denver Urban Gardens provides access, skills, and resources for people to grow healthy food in community and regenerate urban green spaces.

Nourish Colorado
Nourish Colorado achieves their mission by engaging in policy advocacy for systemic change, managing innovative programs, and developing community partnerships and grassroots networks to rebalance the food system and create healthy food environments.

Project Angel Heart
Project Angel Heart prepares and delivers medically tailored meals to people living with severe illnesses. Each week, our professional chefs and registered dietitians prepare thousands of delicious meals, from scratch, and tailor them to meet the specific medical and dietary needs of those who are ill.

UpRoot Colorado
UpRoot Colorado increases the nutrition security of Coloradans by harvesting and redistributing surplus, nutrient-dense foods while supporting the resilience of farmers.  

Food Security 

Denver Inner City Parish
Denver Inner City Parish focuses on areas of critical need in the community, including health and nutrition, aging, hunger relief, education, community support, and immigrant support. DICP’s programming is broad, diverse, and flexible to best meet the changing needs of participants. DICP serves Denver’s at-risk communities through programs that relieve suffering, promote self-sufficiency, enrich lives, and address obstacles associated with poverty. Through collaborations, partnerships, and volunteers, DICP offers high-quality, consistent services to the community members who utilize its programs. DICP believes in building broad community capacity and working with a variety of community and government partners.

Hunger Free Colorado
Hunger Free Colorado, a statewide nonprofit organization, connects people to food resources to meet existing needs and drives policy, systems and social change to end hunger. We envision a day when every Coloradan has equitable access to the nutritious food needed to thrive and reach their full potential.

The Preservery Foundation
The Preservery Foundaion aims to build community through food by providing hunger relief to people experiencing homelessness. Primary efforts include delivering hot, wholesome meals directly to tent encampments in the Denver Metro area. Each meal has a balance of protein, vegetable, starch and fat in order to maximize nutrition and satiation.

We Don’t Waste
We Don’t Waste increases food access and protects the planet by rescuing and repurposing food, while educating and advocating to increase food security and decrease food waste.

Food Bank of the Rockies
Food Bank of the Rockies provides food and necessities to people in need through hundreds of hunger relief partners. They can offer organizations access to donated free and high-quality food and offer weekly pop-ups in the form of mobile pantries around Denver where anyone can come and receive food donations.
