Student Employment
Working in a healthcare environment provides exceptional job opportunities that will broaden your skills and enhance your career. Any current CCD, MSU Denver or CU Denver student can apply for a student employee position at the Health Center at Auraria. We hire students both at an hourly rate and those who have work-study funds.
While no experience is necessary, all of our positions require customer service, computer skills, reliability and responsibility. Students must maintain at least a 2.0 GPA to be eligible to work and continue working at the Health Center at Auraria. All student employees must also operate within HIPAA policies and procedures.

The Health Center is a tri-institutional entity and offers opportunities to students from all three institutions on campus. MSU Denver students have access to apply to positions through Workday. Once signed-in you can navigate to the “Jobs Hub” to find available student employment opportunities. CCD and CU Denver students do not, currently, have access to this platform. Job Descriptions
Accounting Assistant
This position assists the accounting department in patient check-out, patient scheduling, insurance billing, payment entry and filing. The student employee’s typical duties include researching denied and/or unpaid insurance claims, computer data entry, auditing and mailing patient statements. In addition, there are various filing and clerical duties. Effective communication skills are required to assist in answering questions from staff and patients. Employees must demonstrate effective customer service skills in all areas of the job and this position may be asked to do additional duties relating to the job.

Health Education and Outreach Assistant
Students in this position help plan, staff and execute campus health promotion outreach programs. This includes harm reduction events and wellness programs that cover a wide variety of topics such as substance use, sexual health, mental health and overall wellness. This position also assists with marketing the Health Center at Auraria and associated programs through creation, distribution and promotion of advertising materials and during outreach events. This job also supports the Healthy Pursuits Mind Body Fitness classes. This job requires a high attention to detail, data entry, individual and team work, and to positively engage with the campus community.

Immunization and Insurance Customer Service Representative
Customer Service Representatives assist students with the MSU Denver Student Insurance policy and State Mandated Immunization policy. Duties include collecting and reviewing vaccination records for compliance, creating accounts in the EMR system, processes online submissions and audit records for compliance. Effective communication skills are required to explain the Immunization Policy and how to opt-out of or enroll in SHIP. This position also assists Supervisors with special requests, calls non-compliant students, answer phones and has additional office duties.
Skills Learned: Customer service, knowledge of insurance plans, ACA guidelines, reviewing immunization records and state mandates
Medical Support Staff Assistant
This position provides screening, takes vitals and triages patients. Students in this position schedule appointments, assist with phone calls, clean and stock patient rooms, and perform lab tests and phlebotomy. In addition, they regularly use the EMR to document patient encounters, and provide assistance to medical providers and supervisors. People in this position must be able give each patient their full attention while working under pressure and respond to campus emergencies with the medical team. This position will be asked to do additional duties relating to the job.
Skills Learned: CPR, customer service, ECG’s, in-house labs, patient care practices, phlebotomy, medical information documentation and medical records experience
Phone Room Customer Service Representative
Students in this position answer calls for the Health Center at Auraria including scheduling/canceling appointments appropriately and answering questions for the insurance and immunization departments. Students in this position must be able to give each patient their full attention while working under pressure while managing high call volume. Student employees also activate the emergency response system. High attention to detail and superior communication skills are required for this position to be able to accurately and effectively communicate with clinical staff verbally and electronically. While working in this position, employees will be responsible for accurately entering and scanning clinical data into patient charts. This position may be asked to do copying, post flyers, assist at outreach tables and additional office duties.
