Learn, Grow, and Thrive: Our Most Helpful Presentations
Health Center 101
This presentation explains the Health Center at Auraria services that are available. Ranging from medical and mental health services to wellness activities, Health Center 101 is a great fit for any first-year experience class and will help students know and connect with valuable services to support academic success.
Peer 2 Peer
When it comes to seeking out support for mental health struggles, it is well known that college students seek out their peers before a professional on campus. This session’s focus is to provide students with practical knowledge about mental health in college as well as skills to better identify warning signs, offer support and connect with campus- and/or community-based supports.
Sexual Health
Improving health knowledge as it pertains to sexual health and safer sex practices is vital for a healthy lifestyle. This session focuses on a holistic view of sexual health including positive relationships, current knowledge of sexually transmitted infections (STI’s) and what safer sex practices are most effective at reducing the risk of STI’s.
Stress Management
Stress is part of life on a college campus. In this interactive presentation people will learn about different types of stress, consequences of chronic stress and how to bounce back from stress. This session is meant to empower the individual to find their best strategies to be resilient when managing stress.
Nutrition
It seems like everyone has an opinion when it comes to what we should eat, and what is “right” for you. As students, we have worked closely with people who know what they are talking about! Natalie Nowak, a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor, has extensive outpatient experience. Let’s break down the myths and start strengthening your knowledge of nutrition and your body! Want to schedule a time to chat with Natalie? Set up an appointment today!
Peer 2 Peer
This workshop is primarily offered to students and student employees of the Auraria Campus. Through this interactive workshop attendees will gain the knowledge, confidence and capability to support their peers when in need. Mental health awareness, identification of warning signs, practical support strategies and discussion of campus resources will all serve to build participants’ capacity to provide early intervention and other necessary support. This workshop is offered based on request.
Roadrunner 3R Training
These professional development opportunities are intended to train faculty and staff to recognize/identify student behaviors and actions that would likely benefit by an appropriate referral to one of the University sponsored agencies who can assist students in addressing their needs. Attendance is specifically encouraged for those with little to no mental health, crisis or early intervention training but all personnel are welcome. In addition to scheduled trainings, departmental training requests can also be accommodated.
Roadrunner 3R: Basic
An introductory training course that is hosted in Workday. This course is on-demand and self-paced and is highly recommended as a prerequisite to Roadrunner 3R: Advanced.
Roadrunner 3R: Advanced
Live, in-person scenario-based training during which time you will have the opportunity to consult with representatives from the MSU Denver Counseling Center, Dean of Students Office and Health Center at Auraria. Learners can register themselves and/or their teams through Workday.
