Nicotine Cessation

Individuals interested in receiving nicotine cessation assistance can call the Health Center at Auraria to schedule a Nicotine Cessation Intake Appointment. This free, confidential and one-on-one nicotine cessation support is available to all Auraria students, faculty and staff.

Participants will meet with the support coach who will assist in assessing your level of nicotine use, select a quit plan and establish coping strategies as you embark on your nicotine cessation journey. The support coach will also be available to you throughout your journey to offer assistance and insights to better ensure your success.

Nicotine Cessation Visits
Three free nicotine cessation visits with a medical provider are offered at the Health Center at Auraria. These sessions will be used to discuss which medication options will be right for you and are scheduled after your initial intake appointment.

Nicotine Cessation Medication Options
Combined with support coach services, nicotine cessation medications improve your chances of successfully eliminating nicotine usage. Currently, Nicotine Replacement Therapies (NRT) like nicotine gum and patches are covered at no cost to the patient by most major insurances.  A prescription for these items can be written by your Health Center provider and sent to your local pharmacy. Other options, including Chantix® and Wellbutrin®, are available at the Health Center at Auraria.  Cost for these medications is dependent on insurance coverage.

Available Medications
Chantix® (Varenicline)
Wellbutrin® (Bupropion)
