Reproductive Health

The Health Center at Auraria is the only college-based medical center in the state of Colorado that offers nitrous oxide to reduce pain in uncomfortable procedures. Sexual and reproductive health is important, and we offer various medical services as well as free and no-cost resources to all students, faculty, and staff.

Services & Resources

No-Charge Resources

The Health Center at Auraria offers sexual health supplies to students faculty and staff at no charge. These items may include:

  • Condoms (internal and external)
  • Lubricant
  • Dental dams
  • Menstrual cups & discs
  • Pads
  • Tampons

Plan B contraceptives and pregnancy test strips are also available free of charge. They can be obtained at the Health Center’s offices or at various outreach events throughout the semester.

Medical Services

The Health Center at Auraria also offers a variety of medical services for all. Please check with your insurance provider to verify your coverage for these services. If you do not have health insurance, please see our No Insurance/Self-Pay Patients (link) page.

Services for individuals with a penis:

  • Health maintenance exams
  • Screening and treatment of sexually transmitted infections (STIs)
  • HPV screening and vaccinations
  • Pelvic pain and pelvic floor dysfunction treatment

Services for individuals with a uterus:

    • Colposcopy (cervix examination and procedure if PAP smear shows

    • Loop Electrosurgical Excision Procedure (LEEP, removal of precancerous cells
      from cervix)
  • PMOS (Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome, formally PCOS) treatment
  • Perimenopause and menopause management
  • Birth control counseling and prescription
    • Intrauterine devices (IUDs)
      • Hormonal
      • Nonhormonal
    • Subdermal implants (Nexplanon, “the rod”)
    • Oral pills
    • Injections (Depo-Provera, “the shot”)
    • Patches (Twirla/Xulane)
    • Vaginal ring (NuvaRing)
  • Emergency contraception
    • Prescribed options that require appointment with provider, best for patients less than 3 days after unprotected sex with a BMI over 30:
      • Ella Morning-After Pill
      • IUD options
    • Plan B pills are available at the front desk without an appointment

  • Bacterial vaginosis and yeast infection management and treatment
